Write immortal code

This seemingly simple goal unpacks to explain every guideline and rule ever invented to legislate better software. At the same time, it is very easy to apply: just ask yourself, "What can I do to help this chunk of code I'm writing to outlive me?"

As Canadians lurch towards a January Federal election, the various political parties seem to be grasping at straws to distinguish themselves from each other.

Strangely, not one has given a clear message about one of the most critical issues facing Canada in the next ten years - building and maintaining a sustainable, competitive, technological economy.

Oct, 2005 The University of Lethbridge was awarded $1.3 million dollars from the Alberta government, to fund the innovative Alberta Terrestrial Imaging Center. The center, developed in partnership with Iunctus Geomatics Corp will develop and commercialize technolgies and conduct research programmes centered around the unique high-resolution optical remote sensing capabilities of the SPOT constellation of satellites.

Cielo Systems has released Drupal 4.7 versions of contributed modules for book export and import, as well as OPML format for convenient outlining, and DocBook (for publication to print or multiple media).

These modules extend the applications of Drupal's collaboratively edited, structured books, enabling workflows in which these books may be replicated across multiple sites, edited offline, or converted from external sources. The DocBook export functionality allows books to be exported for editing and print production in DocBook XML, enabling the highest quality print output for books and similar documents.

Jan, 2006 Cielo Systems has been working for several years with (and on) Drupal, an open-source community-based content management system. We've built a number of web-based projects on Drupal, as well as contributing to the development of Drupal itself by contributing code, participating in core development, and writing/editing documentation.

We've finally decided that it's time to eat our own dogfood and upgrade our own website to a Drupal based design.
